Hematitic Atlatl Weight

Only one I've ever found, of course it's broken. Was found while diggin' in direct association with Bolen time period points in Gainesville, FL. This one may have been salvaged somewhat....... Oh man did I ever look for the other half!

I'm a little confused on this piece. Is it half of a bannerstone? I, too, am curious to know if hematite occurs naturally in Florida. Cool find, regardless.

It's probably limonite, another ironish rock that does occur in FL, or could be a variety of hematite that occurs near the GA line? Yes, it's half, the smaller half :'(
